About the Role

Our client, a distinguished architectural firm with a specialization in healthcare facility design, is actively seeking a Senior Architectural Technologist to join their team in a fully remote capacity . This role is essential for the technical detailing and documentation of state-of-the-art healthcare projects, ensuring precision, compliance, and constructability. You will be responsible for translating complex design concepts into detailed technical drawings and specifications, working closely with project architects and engineers. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in healthcare architecture, a meticulous eye for detail, and a strong command of building codes and regulations specific to medical facilities. As a remote-first position, this role requires exceptional self-discipline, proactive communication, and the ability to thrive in an independent work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed technical drawings, construction documents, and specifications for healthcare facilities.
• Ensure all technical documentation adheres to relevant building codes, healthcare regulations (e.g., SANS, national health standards), and client requirements.
• Collaborate virtually with project architects, engineers, and specialist consultants to resolve technical issues.
• Perform detailed design coordination and clash detection using relevant software.
• Conduct technical reviews of design development and construction documents.
• Assist in the preparation of tender documentation and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) during construction.
• Maintain and update drawing registers and project documentation repositories.
• Research and recommend appropriate building materials and systems for healthcare environments.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of technical detailing standards.

Requirements

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Architectural Technology or equivalent qualification.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience as an Architectural Technologist, with a significant portion focused on healthcare projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and relevant detailing software.
• In-depth knowledge of building codes, South African National Standards (SANS), and specific healthcare design regulations.
• Strong understanding of building physics, materials, and construction methods.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective remote collaboration.
• Proven ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
• Experience in a remote work setting is highly desirable.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality technical documentation.
