About the Role

Our client, a pioneering force in the renewable energy sector, is seeking a highly accomplished Senior Project Manager to lead critical projects within their expanding operations. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute significantly from anywhere in South Africa, with a primary focus on projects located in the Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal region. You will be instrumental in managing the development and implementation of innovative energy solutions, working closely with engineering, procurement, and construction teams. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in project management within the energy or heavy industrial sectors, a strong understanding of renewable energy technologies, and exceptional remote leadership capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of complex renewable energy projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, and resources effectively to achieve project milestones and objectives.
• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, technical specialists, contractors, and consultants, in a remote setting.
• Develop and implement robust risk management strategies to identify and mitigate potential challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality (HSEQ) standards and regulations relevant to the energy sector.
• Facilitate clear and consistent communication channels among all stakeholders, including internal teams, external partners, and regulatory bodies, utilizing virtual collaboration tools.
• Manage contract negotiations and administer contracts with suppliers and third-party service providers.
• Monitor project performance, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and prepare comprehensive progress reports for senior management.
• Drive innovation and efficiency in project execution, identifying opportunities for process improvements and technology adoption within the energy sector.
• Contribute to the development of business cases and feasibility studies for new energy projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil), Project Management, or a related field.
• A Master's degree or MBA is highly advantageous.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive project management experience, with a strong emphasis on the energy sector (preferably renewable energy, oil & gas, or power generation).
• Demonstrated experience managing large-scale capital projects with budgets exceeding $50 million.
