Minimum Education Bachelor's Degree (Preferred) Associate's Degree in Business Administration or Health Care (Required) Minimum Work Experience 4 years related and progressive experience (Required) 7 years without a degree; related and progressive experience, preferably in healthcare (Required) 1 year supervisory or leadership experience in healthcare operations (Required) Required Skills & Knowledge Computer literacy Demonstrated problem solving, root‑cause analysis, and critical thinking skills High energy, self‑starter with the ability to work independently Ability to set and accomplish goals and project deadlines timely Professional public and hospital staff interaction Typing speed 35–40 WPM and passing typing and Microsoft proficiency assessment Knowledge of insurances, medical terminology, and CPT‑4/ICD‑10 coding Obtain CHAA Certification within first year of hire Functional Accountabilities Staff Development Supervise, train, mentor, and develop all Patient Access staff Conduct performance evaluations and manage staff performance goals Establish work schedules, ensure proper coverage, and develop a float pool, rotating call schedule as needed for weekends and holidays Quality Control Run and analyze standard reports and correct errors Monitor and supervise quality control of staff during registration processes Maintain and monitor billing system and review monthly reports Complete online registration with parents/guardians via telephone or in person as a backup to staff Verify insurance eligibility and coverage Enter charges and diagnostic codes into appropriate systems Manage work list, fax order queues, email requests, and review patient portal work list continuously, addressing inquiries immediately Coordinate Coordinate communication with other departments such as Human Resources, IT, Purchasing and Engineering Coordinate general office support for the clinic Respond to inquiries and complaints in a timely manner Administrative Assistant Perform administrative tasks such as payroll, time records, and petty cash and check requests Monitor the ordering of office supplies Create and develop reports as needed Attend and conduct staff meetings Safety Speak up when team members exhibit unsafe behavior or performance Continuously validate and verify information needed for decision making or documentation Stop in the face of uncertainty and take time to resolve the situation Demonstrate accurate, clear and timely verbal and written communication Actively promote safety for patients, families, visitors and co‑workers Attend to important details, practicing Stop, Think, Act and Review to self‑check behavior and performance Why Join Us Nationally recognized excellence – consistently ranked among the Top 10 Children’s Hospitals in the nation by U.S.

This role is responsible for the coordination of business operations of the Patient Access Department. The manager supervises, trains, mentors, and develops staff to ensure departmental objectives are met, emphasizing customer service, patient satisfaction, staff development, and fiscal goals.
The manager also assists in managing the financial aspects of the department, quality assurance activities, and collaborates with medical, nursing, and accounting staff to ensure appropriate patient placement. Call, weekend, and shift coverage rotates as needed, with a float between locations within Patient Access.
