ABOUT FILICS
Filics' mission is to reinvent intralogistics by creating autonomous mobile robots that fundamentally change how material moves. Our double-runner system makes Filics the first and only AMR able to drive through load carriers such as Euro pallets, breaking forklift logic and setting a new standard for efficiency. You can have a look at our robots here. We are a small, focused team committed to solving hard problems with engineering excellence. All team members are expected to be hands-on and to contribute directly to the company's mission. Work ethic and strong prioritization skills are important. All team members are expected to have strong communication skills. They should be able to concisely and accurately share knowledge with their teammates.
OUR CHALLENGE
We have proven our technology. Our next phase is to manufacture our robots at scale, with consistency, speed, and quality that holds no matter how many we build. Our robot is a system of modules built from hundreds of components, from standard fasteners to subsystems like batteries, motors, PCBs, and laser scanners, sourced across many suppliers and assembled in-house.
Getting there means turning that web of components and suppliers into something repeatable: supply we can rely on, production lines and quality checks that give the same result every time, and logistics that keep every part moving to the line as our numbers grow. Over time it runs both ways too, as what we learn on the line feeds back into engineering so our robots get simpler and faster to build.
YOUR ROLE
As our Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you build the capability that proves Filics can scale production from a few units to hundreds, and you keep quality, reliability, and pace steady as the volume climbs.
- Select and qualify the suppliers who can scale with our volumes, and build the sourcing and incoming-inspection process that keeps part quality consistent as we grow.
- Design the assembly line and the processes behind it: workstation layout, work instructions, and SOPs that make every build repeatable no matter who is on the line that day.
- Build the quality system from the ground up: standards, in-process inspections, first-article and end-of-line checks, and full traceability from component to finished robot.
- Set up the material flow and internal logistics so every part is where the line needs it, when it needs it.
- Work directly with our design and engineering teams to make manufacturability a design principle, driving simpler assemblies, shorter build times, and a leaner BOM.
REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial, or mechatronics engineering, or equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, production, or industrialisation engineering.
- Very fluent in German and English.
- Based in Munich or willing to relocate.
- Hands-on with a mechatronic product. Pure software, pure PCB, or process-industry (chemical, food, pharma) backgrounds will not transfer here.
- You have built production processes from zero, not maintained ones someone else set up. You can point to specific SOPs, quality gates, and workstations you designed yourself, ideally as one of the first manufacturing hires at a hardware company.
- Hands-on experience across supplier selection and qualification, DFM and DFA, BOM management, quality systems, and assembly line and workstation design.
