About the Role

Our client, a global leader in automotive innovation, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in Powertrain Systems to join their fully remote engineering team. This role is critical for the design, development, and optimization of advanced powertrain components and systems, driving the future of automotive propulsion. You will leverage your deep technical expertise to tackle complex engineering challenges, working collaboratively with international teams. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical engineering, extensive experience with powertrain technologies (both internal combustion and electric vehicle powertrains), and proficiency in advanced simulation and analysis tools. This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated engineer to contribute to groundbreaking projects from the comfort of their home office.

We are looking for a self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for automotive technology, capable of thriving in a dynamic, remote work environment. Your contributions will significantly influence the performance, efficiency, and emissions of future vehicle generations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and validation of complex mechanical components and systems within automotive powertrains (e.g., engines, transmissions, drivelines, electric motors, battery systems).
  • Utilize advanced CAD software for intricate 3D modeling, system integration, and detailed design documentation.
  • Perform rigorous engineering analysis, including structural, thermal, fatigue, and vibration simulations (FEA/CFD), to ensure performance, durability, and reliability.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional global teams, including electrical engineers, software developers, and vehicle integration specialists, to achieve project objectives.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for powertrain components and systems, analyze test data, and provide recommendations for design improvements.
  • Ensure designs meet all relevant automotive industry standards, regulatory requirements (e.g., emissions, safety), and performance targets.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and design documentation for internal reviews and stakeholders.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering technical excellence and knowledge sharing within the remote team.
  • Stay current with emerging powertrain technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and provide innovative solutions throughout the product lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Requirements Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; Ph.D. is a plus.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering, with a strong specialization in automotive powertrain systems.
  • Proven experience in the design and development of components for internal combustion engines, transmissions, electric vehicle powertrains (motors, inverters, battery enclosures), or drivelines.
  • Expertise in industry-standard CAD software (e.g., CATIA, Siemens NX) and CAE tools (e.g., ANSYS, GT-SUITE, MATLAB/Simulink).
  • Deep understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, materials science, and mechanical vibrations.
  • Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision‑making skills.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, essential for effective remote team interaction.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver results in a remote setting.
  • Knowledge of automotive testing procedures and data acquisition systems.

Benefits
