About the Role

Our client, a leading global genomics research company, is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Bioinformatics Scientist to join their fully remote team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in areas such as genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics from the comfort of your own home. You will play a critical role in analyzing large-scale biological datasets, developing novel algorithms, and building robust computational pipelines to support our client's research objectives. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related field, coupled with extensive experience in data analysis, statistical modeling, and programming. We are looking for a self-driven individual who thrives in a remote work environment and is passionate about leveraging computational approaches to unlock biological insights.

The position offers a competitive salary, excellent benefits, and the flexibility of a remote-first work arrangement. Join us in advancing the frontiers of biological discovery through powerful bioinformatics solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze large-scale omics datasets (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics) using advanced bioinformatics tools and statistical methods.
  • Develop, implement, and validate new computational pipelines and algorithms for biological data analysis.
  • Design and perform statistical analyses to identify significant biological patterns and associations.
  • Collaborate with molecular biologists, geneticists, and other research scientists to define research questions and interpret results.
  • Contribute to the design of high-throughput screening and experimental studies, providing computational support.
  • Develop and maintain clear, well-documented code and analysis workflows.
  • Present findings and insights to research teams and stakeholders through reports and presentations.
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in bioinformatics, computational biology, and relevant technologies.
  • Contribute to data visualization and the development of user-friendly interfaces for accessing and exploring biological data.
  • Mentor junior bioinformaticians and provide technical guidance on complex analysis projects.

Requirements

  • A Ph.D. or Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in bioinformatics or computational biology research, with a focus on analyzing large-scale omics data.
  • Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in bioinformatics, such as Python and R.
  • Experience with bioinformatics tools and databases (e.g., BLAST, UCSC Genome Browser, Ensembl, Galaxy).
  • Strong understanding of statistical principles and their application in biological data analysis.
  • Experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis is essential.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP) and high-performance computing (HPC) environments is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a remote setting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fully remote capacity, ideally within a reasonable time zone overlap for collaboration.

Benefits

  • Our client provides a competitive salary, annual performance bonuses, and a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • We offer a generous retirement savings plan with company matching.
  • Continuous professional development is encouraged through access to online courses, virtual conferences, and opportunities for further education.
  • Employees receive a substantial paid time off allowance, flexible working hours, and the significant advantage of working remotely.
  • This role offers unparalleled flexibility and the chance to contribute to impactful research from any location.
