Senior Telecom Network Deployment Manager (Remote)

About the Role

Our client, a global leader in telecommunications infrastructure deployment, is actively seeking a seasoned Senior Telecom Network Deployment Manager to oversee and drive large-scale network rollout projects. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to manage operations and teams from anywhere, with a focus on optimizing deployment strategies across South Africa. You will be responsible for planning, executing, and closing complex network projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in project management within the telecoms sector, a deep understanding of network technologies (including fibre and wireless), and proven leadership capabilities.

This role requires exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders effectively in a remote setting, without requiring a fixed office presence in Mahikeng, North West, or any other specific location.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end deployment lifecycle for telecommunications network projects, from planning to handover.
• Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, timelines, resource allocation, and budget management.
• Manage project teams, including field engineers, technicians, and contractors, remotely.
• Oversee site acquisition, civil works, equipment installation, and commissioning phases.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, quality standards, and permitting requirements.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks and issues, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Effectively communicate project status, updates, and challenges to senior management and stakeholders.
• Manage vendor relationships and performance to ensure timely delivery of services and equipment.
• Optimize deployment processes for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality.
• Conduct post-project reviews and implement lessons learned for continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in telecommunications network deployment and project management.
• Proven success in managing large-scale fibre optic and/or wireless network rollouts.
• Strong understanding of network infrastructure, deployment methodologies, and technologies.
• Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to manage remote teams effectively.
• Excellent organizational, planning, and execution skills.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Jira) and tools.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships across different organizations.
• PMP or Prince2 certification is highly desirable.
