Power Semiconductor System Application Team – PV & ESS (Residential & C&I) Your Role The Senior Staff Software Engineer leads embedded control software development for power conversion system reference solutions, serving both residential and commercial & industrial (C&I) PV and energy storage scenarios.
Our team builds system-level reference solutions based on the company’s full product portfolio, including power semiconductors, MCUs, gate drivers and sensors, to fully unlock the performance advantages of our device lineup.
You will design and optimize digital control software, and collaborate cross-functionally with product lines, hardware, test and manufacture teams to deliver high-efficiency, reliable reference solutions that balance performance and cost targets across diverse application scenarios.
Provide technical support to internal teams and external customers, and compile application notes and technical troubleshooting documents for our integrated system solutions. Communication & Teamwork: Effective cross-team communication skills and strong teamwork mindset to align with hardware, device and test teams.
Key responsibilities in your new role Own end-to-end embedded control software development for PV & ESS power converter reference systems, covering grid-tied control, energy storage management, protection logic design, algorithm implementation, coding, debugging, prototype verification and version iteration.
Cooperate with hardware engineers to define software-hardware interfaces, design matching control algorithms and MCU peripheral low-level drivers for target power topologies, and conduct joint hardware-software debugging on lab prototypes built with our MCU, gate driver, power semiconductor and sensor products.
Build system and control algorithm simulation models to validate control logic, optimize dynamic response and efficiency prior to hardware implementation. Support system design roadmap definition, provide software technical assessment for residential and C&I reference design requirements, and propose control solutions.
Troubleshoot control and software-related anomalies during internal lab validation and customer reference board testing, perform root cause analysis and deliver optimized software releases.
Your Profile Qualifications and skills to help you succeed Education: Master’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Control Engineering or related disciplines.
Work Experience: Minimum 5 years of hands-on digital power control software development experience, with a background in PV/ESS inverter or related power conversion system development.
Topology Knowledge: Familiar with at least 2–3 mainstream power conversion topologies among NPC1, NPC2, ANPC, HERIC, Buck/Boost, LLC, DAB, with solid understanding of their working principles and PV/ESS application scenarios.
Control Algorithm Design: Capable of independently developing control algorithms for the above power topologies, including current/voltage closed loops, PI/PID and PR controllers, feedforward control and state machine design.
Proficient in grid-tied inverter control with core focus on grid-following and grid-forming control, as well as PLL and active/reactive power regulation. Hands-on experience with ESS PCS control, battery charge/discharge management, BMS communication and energy management functions.
Able to design fault detection, protection algorithms, diagnostics and fault handling mechanisms with safety-oriented software design awareness.
MCU Embedded Software & Driver Development: Proficient in MCU peripheral low-level driver development and real-time digital control implementation, including PWM generation, ADC synchronization, interrupt handling, DMA transfer and core peripheral configuration.
Skilled in C/C++ embedded programming with good programming practices for standardized, readable, reusable and maintainable code. Tool Proficiency: Skilled in embedded IDEs, oscilloscopes, power analyzers and other mainstream test & debugging tools for power electronics.
Problem Solving: Strong systematic troubleshooting ability to resolve complex control and system-level technical issues. Language Skill: Working English proficiency for daily technical discussion, document writing and customer communication.
Preferred Qualifications Hands-on project experience developing control software based on wide-bandgap (GaN/SiC) power semiconductors, power MCUs and gate driver ICs. 2.Project experience with high-power C&I grid-tied inverters, large-capacity ESS PCS reference platforms, or LVRT/HVRT and anti-islanding compliance function development. 3.Strong innovation capability in advanced power conversion control, with the ability to explore novel control strategies and implement them into system reference solutions.
