Are you passionate about hands‑on engineering while leading delivery in a distributed team? /p pOur Index team is based in Zurich and India and develops core platforms that enable the creation, calculation, and distribution of financial indices.

While this is not a people management role, you will lead the team from a technical and delivery perspective, ensuring that commitments are met with high quality and on time.

You will combine strong hands‑on engineering with clear ownership, collaborating closely with product managers, domain experts, and SRE teams to build reliable and effective solutions. /p h3What You Will Do /h3 ul liDesign, build, and maintain backend services using Java (Spring Boot) and Python for index calculation and data processing platforms /li liOwn the end‑to‑end delivery of features, ensuring they are delivered on time and meet quality expectations /li liLead the technical delivery of a distributed engineering team in India, aligning the team and ensuring consistent, high‑quality outcomes (without direct line management) /li liCollaborate with SRE teams to ensure systems are reliable and production‑ready, contributing to improvements where needed /li liDrive architecture and engineering decisions to improve scalability, performance, and maintainability /li /ul h3What You Bring /h3 ul liStrong hands‑on software engineering experience with Java (Spring Boot) and Python in a production environment /li liExperience leading delivery in a distributed setup, with a focus on accountability and outcomes /li liSolid understanding of backend system design and distributed systems /li liExperience using modern engineering tooling and AI‑assisted development to improve productivity and code quality /li liBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent hands‑on experience in building and operating production systems /li liFluent English communication skills; German is a plus /li /ul pIf you have any questions, check out our FAQ page or call Mateusz Kozielec at . /p pFor this vacancy we only accept direct applications. /p pDiversity is important to us.
