About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Natural Sciences Educator to join their dynamic, remote-first team. This position is ideal for a seasoned professional looking to leverage their expertise in delivering engaging online science education. You will be responsible for developing advanced curriculum modules, leading virtual instruction, and mentoring both students and junior educators. The role focuses on Grades 8-12, covering a broad spectrum of natural sciences including biology, chemistry, and physics, all delivered through an online platform. We are dedicated to providing exceptional remote learning experiences and require an educator who is passionate about science and adept at utilizing technology to foster deep learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and refine advanced curriculum content for Natural Sciences (Grades 8-12) for online delivery.
• Deliver engaging and interactive virtual lessons, utilizing a variety of digital tools and pedagogical strategies.
• Design and implement effective online assessments to evaluate student comprehension and progress.
• Provide academic support and mentorship to students, fostering scientific inquiry and critical thinking skills.
• Lead and mentor junior Natural Sciences educators in online teaching methodologies and curriculum best practices.
• Stay current with scientific advancements and educational technology trends relevant to remote learning.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the online science program.
• Maintain accurate student records and communicate effectively with students and parents/guardians virtually.
• Facilitate online discussion forums and collaborative learning activities.

Requirements

• A Master's degree in a relevant Science field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics) and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or equivalent.
• A minimum of 7 years of teaching experience in Natural Sciences at the high school level (Grades 8-12).
• Proven experience in designing and delivering online science curriculum and instruction.
• Demonstrated expertise in integrating educational technology and online learning platforms effectively.
• Strong understanding of the South African CAPS curriculum and its adaptation for remote learning.
• Excellent virtual classroom management skills and ability to foster student engagement online.
• Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, suitable for remote interaction.
• SACE registration is mandatory.
• Self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently in a remote environment.
