Senior Employment Lawyer - Remote

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Employment Lawyer to join their legal team on a fully remote basis. This role is responsible for providing expert legal advice and strategic guidance on all aspects of employment law to the organization. You will manage complex employment-related disputes, ensure compliance with labor legislation, and advise on policy development, HR matters, and employment contracts. The ideal candidate is a seasoned legal professional with extensive knowledge of South African labor law, excellent advocacy skills, and the ability to work autonomously and effectively in a remote setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic advice on all aspects of employment law, including dismissals, disciplinary actions, and grievances.
• Draft, review, and update employment contracts, policies, and procedures.
• Represent the company in labor disputes, CCMA proceedings, and bargaining council negotiations.
• Advise HR and management on compliance with the Labour Relations Act and BCEA.
• Conduct internal investigations into workplace misconduct and disputes.
• Stay current with legislative changes and provide proactive compliance guidance.

Requirements

• Admitted attorney with a minimum of 7 years of specialized experience in employment law.
• Proven track record in handling complex employment litigation and advisory matters.
• In-depth knowledge of South African labor legislation and case law.
• Excellent negotiation, mediation, and advocacy skills. Ability to work independently, manage priorities effectively, and deliver results in a remote environment.
