Senior DevOps Engineer - Aachen area - Up to €90,000 (d / m / f)
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the global IT landscape by improving architecture, processes, and infrastructure services
- Deliver advanced 2nd and 3rd level support across infrastructure and DevOps environments while ensuring high service quality
- Standardize, secure, and administer Ubuntu Pro as the enterprise-wide client operating system
- Deploy, manage, and optimize container platforms to streamline application delivery and operations
- Provision, scale, and maintain GitLab Runner environments, including dedicated automation infrastructure for internal requirements
- Own the administration, configuration, and support of the GitLab platform, serving as a key contact for development and engineering teams
- Ensure reliable end-to-end operation of infrastructure services, covering networks, servers, virtualization, storage, and system integrations
- Design, implement, automate, and operate global infrastructure and DevOps solutions
Desired Skills and Experience
- Completed a degree in Computer Science, IT Systems, or similar
- 5+ years of experience in a global infrastructure, systems administration, or DevOps environment
- Solid experience administering Linux server environments and managing Ubuntu Pro clients, including configuration and security hardening
- Deep knowledge of virtualization environments based on Proxmox, including PVE, Ceph, and PBS
- Expertise with container technologies such as Kubernetes, k3s, Docker, or Podman
- Hands‑on experience managing and supporting GitLab platforms, including runner deployment and lifecycle management
- Fluency in German and English
