Key Responsibilities

• Lead independent research projects focused on novel chemical synthesis, catalysis, or materials development.
• Design, conduct, and analyze complex experiments, utilizing advanced laboratory techniques and instrumentation.
• Develop and optimize synthetic routes and chemical processes.
• Interpret experimental data, draw meaningful conclusions, and propose further research directions.
• Author high-quality scientific publications and patent applications.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including biologists, engineers, and data scientists, in a remote setting.
• Present research findings at scientific conferences and internal meetings.
• Mentor junior researchers and contribute to the intellectual growth of the R&D department.
• Stay abreast of the latest scientific literature and technological advancements in relevant fields.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of post-doctoral research experience in an academic or industrial R&D setting.
• Proven track record of innovative research, demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications and/or patents.
• Extensive experience in synthetic organic chemistry, catalysis, or materials science.
• Proficiency with modern analytical techniques (NMR, Mass Spectrometry, Chromatography, Spectroscopy).
• Strong theoretical knowledge of chemical principles and reaction mechanisms.
• Excellent data analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Superb written and verbal communication skills for effective remote collaboration.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and drive projects to completion in a remote environment.
• Must be based in South Africa and legally authorized to work remotely.
