About the Role

Our client, a global leader in renewable energy solutions, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Wind Turbine Installation Specialist. This is a remote-first position, but it necessitates significant travel to project sites across South Africa for the installation and commissioning of wind turbines. You will play a crucial role in overseeing and executing the assembly and integration of wind turbine components, ensuring adherence to the highest safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in wind turbine installation, a deep understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, and exceptional leadership skills to guide installation teams effectively. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the installation of wind turbine components, including towers, nacelles, and rotor blades.
• Oversee the assembly and connection of mechanical and electrical systems within the wind turbines.
• Ensure all installation activities comply with stringent safety regulations, industry best practices, and project specifications.
• Conduct pre-installation site assessments and contribute to logistical planning.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues encountered during the installation and commissioning phases.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior technicians and installation crews.
• Perform quality control checks throughout the installation process.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and site supervisors to ensure project timelines are met.
• Maintain detailed records of installation progress, challenges, and resolutions.
• Operate specialized equipment and tools safely and efficiently.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in the installation and maintenance of wind turbines.
• Demonstrated expertise in assembling and commissioning large-scale wind turbine systems.
• In-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems specific to wind turbines.
• Proven ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings, manuals, and schematics.
• Strong understanding of advanced rigging, lifting, and heavy machinery operation.
• Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
• Commitment to a zero-accident safety culture.
• Ability to work at heights and in challenging environmental conditions.
• Valid driver’s license and a passport for potential international travel or training.
• Relevant technical certifications or degrees in mechanical, electrical, or relevant engineering fields are highly desirable.
