Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of complex mechanical systems, sub-systems, and components for automated industrial machinery.
• Utilize advanced 3D CAD software for modeling, creating detailed drawings, and managing assemblies.
• Perform comprehensive mechanical analyses, including stress, thermal, vibration, and fatigue analysis, using FEA tools.
• Specify and integrate various mechanical components such as motors, actuators, bearings, and power transmission systems.
• Collaborate virtually with electrical engineers, control system engineers, and software developers to ensure seamless system integration.
• Oversee the prototyping, testing, and validation processes for mechanical systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical and system-level issues identified during development or in the field.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test procedures, and user manuals.
• Contribute to the definition and improvement of engineering standards and best practices for system design.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and client requirements.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mechanical design and systems engineering, with a focus on industrial automation or complex machinery.
• Expert proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) and associated PDM/PLM systems.
• Extensive experience with FEA simulation software for detailed analysis and design validation.
• Strong understanding of mechatronics, control systems, and industrial automation principles.
• Proven ability to lead complex engineering projects and mentor junior engineers remotely.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with demonstrated success in remote work environments.
• Must be legally authorized to work in South Africa and have a stable, high-speed internet connection.
