Remote Principal Cloud Architect

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and visionary Principal Cloud Architect to join their team. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere in the world while shaping the future of our cloud strategy. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing our complex cloud infrastructure, ensuring scalability, security, and cost-efficiency. This role demands deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to lead and influence technical direction across the organization. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of architecting and deploying enterprise-level cloud solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and architecture of scalable, resilient, and secure cloud solutions on major platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Develop and maintain cloud strategy, roadmap, and best practices for the organization.
• Define and implement infrastructure standards, patterns, and governance policies.
• Evaluate and recommend new cloud technologies and services to drive innovation and efficiency.
• Collaborate with engineering, security, and operations teams to ensure successful implementation and operation of cloud environments.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to development and operations teams.
• Develop and maintain documentation for cloud architecture, standards, and procedures.
• Perform cost optimization analysis and implement strategies to manage cloud spend effectively.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and security best practices within the cloud infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot complex cloud-related issues and provide expert-level support.
• Mentor and train other technical staff on cloud architecture and best practices.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent extensive experience.
• 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure and software development, with at least 5 years focused on cloud architecture.
• Deep expertise in designing and implementing solutions on AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.
• Strong knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Proven experience with microservices architectures, serverless computing, and DevOps practices.
• Excellent understanding of networking, security, and database technologies in a cloud context.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
• Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert).
