Remote Lead Exploration Geologist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and visionary Lead Exploration Geologist to join their globally distributed team, working remotely from anywhere within South Africa . This senior position will lead the identification and evaluation of new mineral exploration opportunities, developing exploration strategies, and overseeing geological programs. You will play a critical role in discovering the next generation of resource assets for the company. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic exploration programs for various commodities across different geological settings.
• Manage and interpret geological, geophysical, and geochemical data to identify and prioritize targets for exploration.
• Oversee drilling programs, including planning, supervision, and technical evaluation of results.
• Conduct detailed geological mapping and structural analysis of exploration areas.
• Prepare comprehensive exploration reports, resource estimates, and technical presentations for senior management.
• Mentor and guide junior geologists and field teams, fostering best practices in exploration geology.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. degree in Geology or Economic Geology.
• Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in mineral exploration, with a proven track record of successful discoveries.
• Extensive experience with various exploration techniques and geological software (e.g., Leapfrog, ArcGIS, ioGAS).
• Strong understanding of structural geology, mineral systems, and deposit modeling.
• Experience in managing budgets and remote field teams effectively.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and strategic planning skills, crucial for a remote leadership role.
