Lead Project Manager - Remote Cloud Migration

Our client is embarking on a significant cloud migration initiative and requires a highly experienced Lead Project Manager to oversee this complex, entirely remote operation. This role is critical for ensuring the seamless transition of our infrastructure to a cloud-based environment, optimizing performance, scalability, and security. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker, adept at managing distributed teams and navigating the intricacies of cloud technologies. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within South Africa, while contributing to a high-impact project from the comfort of your home office. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute detailed project plans for the end-to-end cloud migration, encompassing infrastructure, applications, and data.
• Lead and manage a geographically dispersed project team, fostering clear communication and collaboration in a remote setting.
• Define project scope, manage timelines, allocate resources effectively, and control project budgets.
• Oversee the selection and implementation of cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), ensuring alignment with business objectives.
• Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and dependencies associated with cloud migration.
• Establish and maintain robust communication channels with all stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status and key milestones.
• Ensure the successful migration of applications and data with minimal disruption to business operations.
• Implement effective change management strategies to facilitate user adoption and address concerns related to the new cloud environment.
• Conduct post-migration reviews to assess performance, identify lessons learned, and ensure continuous improvement.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline. PMP, PRINCE2, or cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP) are highly desirable.
• A minimum of 8 years of proven project management experience, with at least 4 years specifically managing large-scale cloud migration or infrastructure projects.
• Extensive experience managing fully remote teams and projects, demonstrating exceptional virtual leadership capabilities.
• Deep understanding of cloud computing concepts, architectures, and services across major providers.
• Proficiency in Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex technical information into clear business insights.
• Experience with project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, and MS Project.
• Must be legally authorized to work in South Africa and comfortable working independently in a remote setup.
