Mechanical Commissioning (CX ) Lead

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday (9 hour days) or a rotation is possible

Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Commissioning (CX) Lead to join a major Data Centre project in West Frankfurt, Germany.

The successful candidate will take a leading role in the planning, coordination and execution of mechanical commissioning activities, ensuring all systems are commissioned safely, efficiently and in accordance with project specifications, industry standards and client requirements.

Working closely with the wider construction, engineering and commissioning teams, the Mechanical CX Lead will oversee commissioning activities from initial preparation through to integrated systems testing and final handover.

This is a senior site-based position requiring extensive commissioning experience, strong technical knowledge and a proven background delivering large-scale Data Centre projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all mechanical commissioning activities across the project.
• Develop, review and implement commissioning plans, procedures and programmes.
• Coordinate commissioning activities with construction, engineering, vendors and specialist subcontractors.
• Oversee the commissioning of mechanical systems, including HVAC, chilled water, cooling systems, pumps, pipework and associated equipment.
• Ensure systems are mechanically complete and ready for commissioning in accordance with project requirements.
• Manage and coordinate commissioning teams, subcontractors and specialist vendors.
• Monitor commissioning progress against project milestones and identify potential programme risks.
• Review commissioning documentation, method statements, risk assessments and test procedures.
• Ensure all commissioning activities are completed in accordance with health, safety, quality and environmental requirements.
• Lead the resolution of technical issues, defects and commissioning-related challenges.
• Coordinate functional performance testing and support Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
• Maintain accurate commissioning records, test documentation and handover packages.
• Report progress, risks and technical issues to the wider project leadership team.

Requirements

• Minimum 15 years' experience within mechanical engineering and commissioning.
• Proven experience working on large-scale Data Centre projects.
• Previous experience in a Mechanical Commissioning Lead or senior commissioning management position.
• Strong technical understanding of critical mechanical infrastructure and building services.
• Extensive experience with HVAC, chilled water systems, cooling infrastructure, pumps and associated mechanical plant.
• Experience managing commissioning teams, subcontractors and specialist vendors.
